When Siemens Energy in Finspång needed to strengthen its shipping department with an import forwarder, it was crucial to find the right consultant – both in terms of skills and culture. The role involved responsibility for complex import flows, customs handling and international transportation in a business where structure, cooperation and quality are central.

Since we at Unik had previously worked closely with the department, there was an established understanding of both working methods and team dynamics. Through continuous meetings with both managers and consultants, consultant manager Jessica Ferm had a clear picture of which profile would work best in the role.

“The fact that we have worked closely with the department for a long time meant that I could see early on what kind of skills and personality would work best in the role,” says Jessica Ferm, Head of Consulting at Unik Resurs.

The close dialog became a clear success factor in the process.

Understanding both skills and personality

“I think you had a very good ability to understand both the competencies we were looking for and the type of personality that would fit into our department. You asked the right questions and were careful to ensure understanding of the type of resource we were looking for,” says Micael Johansson, Manager Shipping Department at Siemens Energy.

When the applications initially consisted mainly of more junior profiles, Jessica chose to work with a targeted personal search to reach candidates with the right level of experience. In parallel, an in-depth dialogue was conducted about the candidates’ work style and how they would complement the team.

“The most important thing for me was that you could deliver candidates who not only had the necessary skills, but would also fit into the team and contribute to a positive working environment. You managed to fulfill this, and we are very happy with the result,” Micael continues.

Careful selection process resulted in high quality

The quality of the sample was already evident at the interview stage.

“The quality of the candidates was high and they were well prepared for the interviews. It felt like you had done a thorough selection process before presenting the candidates to us.”

A safe start for the consultant

The match landed in Medisa Dedovic, who quickly got into the role of import forwarder. Jessica emphasizes the importance of following up even after appointment.

“The start was very positive and structured. I felt welcome from day one, and the communication with both Unik Resurs and Siemens Energy made the transition into the role safe and smooth,” says Medisa.

Jessica Ferm, Head of Consulting

"Our role does not end when the consultant is in place. Through continuous reviews, we ensure that both client and consultant feel secure and that the assignment is developing in the right direction."
